Irrespective of whether I am painting a landscape, a still life or a human figure, I strive always to ensure that the motifs I use in my work are not mere recreations on the canvas of the beauty and form of the subject matter and that the viewer is able to sense a profundity which makes him aware of the presence of something invisible in the painted picture.
